Secured ServicesHMP Littlehey is a category C prison for men convicted of a sex offence. It is located in the Cambridgeshire countryside near the town of Huntingdon.
NHFT offer a full range of healthcare services delivered by a professional, multidisciplinary, friendly team. These include primary healthcare (medical, nursing and pharmacy), primary and secondary mental health, clinical and psychosocial substance misuse, physiotherapy, podiatry and optometry. We have a highly skilled nursing team including non-medical prescribers.
HMP Littlehey has a large cohort of older prisoners and NHFT have bespoke pathways for both life limiting conditions and a specialist palliative care team. We are also one of the few prison healthcare teams to have a dedicated dementia lead who is able to offer screening for all prisoners classed as older adults. We are able to support diagnosis through a robust programme of dementia support including regular physical and mental health check-ins, self-help materials, cognitive stimulation groups and our dementia friendly garden opened in Spring 2022.
We are very proud to work collaboratively with our prison colleagues to ensure a multidisciplinary approach is taken in educating, supporting and encouraging patients to make healthy choices. We provide a wide range of health promotion literacy which is adapted to meet language and literacy requirements and we have health promotion boards which reflect our comprehensive health promotion calendar. We hold health promotion days with opportunities to have conversations about self-care, ageing well and reducing risk of ill health.
