Our team works to support offenders who are known or suspected to have mental health needs, learning disabilities or drug and alcohol problems. We also work with professionals in the criminal justice system to make sure they can adapt processes to meet the needs of offenders.

Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Team

The Liaison and Diversion Service identifies those who have mental health, learning disability, substance problems or other vulnerabilities when they first meet the criminal justice system. The staff you will meet are employed by Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) who work closely with police, and court staff.

We support people through the criminal justice system and guide you to right services to meet your individual needs. Our aim is to improve your health and reduce re-offending and identify vulnerable people earlier to reduce the likelihood they will reach crisis-point in the future. We give a service within police custody suites, probation, magistrates and crown courts across Northamptonshire.

Who is this service for? Adult and child offenders who are thought to have a vulnerability.

How to access this service: Referrals are received from police, probation, courts, solicitors, prisons, and other Trust services. Referrals can be made by telephone or email.
