Mental Health Support TeamsThe Circle of Security parenting programme is designed to help parents:
- Who may be experiencing difficulties in their relationship with their infant
- Improve their ability to understand their infant's non-verbal communication
- Understand their child s emotional world by learning to read their needs
- Who wish to improve the development of their child s self-esteem
- Improve their confidence as a parent
- Increase their child's feeling of attachment security
The programme offers parents two individual meetings and eight to 10 support sessions (five to 10 people). Circle of Security is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. The sessions include PowerPoint teaching, video material, exercises and discussions. Participants are not required to discuss their personal circumstances with other group members. Couples are welcome to attend together.
Depending on demand and accessibility, group sessions will be held either in person or online or a mixture of the two. Creche facilities will be available for all in-person sessions. Locations for in-person groups will be confirmed to you in advance if you are accepted on to the programme.
