Transforming Northamptonshire’s community mental health services

National changes to community mental health services are being implemented which impact how these services are provided in England. In line with the national programme, and as part of NHCP’s wider work to deliver better mental health care and outcomes for our county, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) is improving community mental health services in Northamptonshire.
In order to provide mental health care and access to mental health services at a local level for Northamptonshire’s communities, there will be new and smaller teams who will work more closely with GPs and service users.
There will be new teams of staff within GP areas in nine locations in the North and West of the county – which include current staff and new colleagues, with psychiatry, nurses, OTs, support workers and voluntary sector workers, access to specialist pharmacists for medicine advice, access to physical health clinics ran by people with experience and understanding of mental health conditions.
Over the next three years there will be changes in how NHFT delivers services as Northamptonshire’s community mental health provider. Throughout the programme NHFT will work with service users, staff and stakeholders to ensure that they’re informed of key milestones within the transformation.
To answer frequently asked questions we have established a dedicated webpage for the transformation programme; this will be updated regularly on the progress of the transformation as it moves forward. To find out more, visit: www.nhft.nhs.uk/mhtransformation
